Tampa's nightlife and entertainment options can only be described as colorful, exciting and varied. Meander through a tropical aviary. Watch an underwater show, complete with mermaids. Splash around at a water park. Tailgate in the stadium parking lot before a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.
Adventure Island – With 30 acres of water activities, Adventure Island is a welcome respite in the hot Tampa sun. Join a game on the championship white sand volleyball court. Ride Endless Surf, a 17,000-square-foot wave pool with swells up to five feet. Float down the Rambling Bayou. Gather friends and jump into one of the rafts at Aruba Tuba. Lunch on a burger or fajita at Mango Joe's. Sign up the kids for Adventure Camp.
Busch Gardens – Visit the Serengeti without every leaving the country. The 65-acre habitat features antelopes, giraffes, rhinoceros and more. Attend one of Jack Hanna's famous wildlife shows. Join a 30-minute safari ride. View nearly 2,000 birds, reptiles and mammals including rare white tigers. Pet the famous Clydesdale horses.
Cypress Gardens – Located in nearby Winter Haven, Cypress Gardens offers something for everyone. Catch well-known musicians or a holiday show. Stock up on goodies like candy, barbeque, hamburgers and pizza at Jubilee Junction. Choose from 40 rides like Triple Hurricane and Upsy Daisy. See more than 300 animals.
Lowry Park Zoo – This Tampa zoo is a local favorite. Keep track of how many of the 1,600 animals housed here you've seen. Meander along the Florida Boardwalk to see if you can spot the stingrays. Stop by the Manatee Hospital to watch them rehabilitate these gentle creatures.
Raymond James Stadium – Become one of the many devoted Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans at this stadium, their home turf. Snag a seat along the 50 yard line from among more than 65,000. Support the University of South Florida's Bulls as they go for victory.
Weeki Wachee Springs – If your daughter loves the Little Mermaid, you'll want to take her to Weeki Wachee Springs. Located in Wachee, this entertainment park features live "mermaids". Catch one of their shows, which have been performed since 1947. Hop on a Wilderness River Boat Cruise. Challenge the kids at Junior Lifeguard Camp. Rent a kayak or canoe on the Weeki Wachee River.
Ybor City – Embracing Tampa's Latin heritage, Ybor City is a National Historic Landmark District. Take photographs of the intricate architecture, with its wrought iron balconies and brick sidewalks. Scout out a straw hat at a boutique. Follow along as cigar makers deftly roll tobacco leaves. Savor the local Cuban dishes. Enjoy drinks during a flamenco dance show.
